Whole Foods Market: Kailua

Whole Foods Market: Kailua

The design for this store pays homage to the beauty of the Hawaiian community while reinforcing sustainability and Whole Foods Market values. It has one of the most diverse material and application methods used to date. Incorporating native woods such as Koa and Monkey Pod along with more traditional varieties of Douglas Fir, Poplar, and Birch; concepts were fabricated as layers upon layers of intricate detailing. Materials were hand carved, bent, routed, hewn, painted, printed, and finally assembled into rich compositions.

The decor is both stunning and welcoming. From hand-carved Pikake blooms that burst from hand-painted leaves to the coastal mural that glows above the Two Seas Fish Market, the store offers a feast for the eyes. The warmth of natural woods and continuous shades of greens and blues are calming and bring the tropical lushness of Hawaii into the space.
