Enchantment Resort: Trail House

Enchantment Resort: Trail House

Enchantment Resort in Sedona is a premier destination for mountain biking, hiking and outdoor adventure. Gluckman Tang Architects contacted us to develop interactive components for a new facility within the resort. Trail House is a 4000 sq.ft. adventure center focusing on informational tools, equipment sales and exhibits for outdoor enthusiasts. This active, modular space caters to a variety of users and functions, requiring development and implementation that could both hold up to a high energy level and compliment the resort’s aesthetic.

Establishment of budgets, understanding the architect’s intent and our in-depth knowledge of materials and their properties brought us to use live-edge beetle kill pine, figured cork, and blackened cold rolled steel – an elegant and enduring palette.

Working with GTA, Nicomia developed extensive trail map graphics, a custom-scaled topo table and a comprehensive series of interpretive panels.

The project was initiated at the same time New York was in peak COVID-19, which restricted travel, complicating the design and review process. Through adaptation by all concerned, progress prevailed, and production moved forward to meet its deadline.

The resulting installation is beautifully refined and welcoming for all. And for us, it represents an adventure that is one of our favorites to date!
